NBA Moves To Salvage Its Brand In China

Congress is asking the NBA to suspend its relationship with China following the nation launching a boycott of the league and the Houston Rockets.

A bipartisan group of eight lawmakers, including Senator Ted Cruz and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, have written an open letter to commissioner Adam Silver with the request.

"You have more power to take a stand than most of the Chinese government's targets and should have the courage and integrity to use it," the message reads, adding, "It's not unreasonable to expect American companies to put our fundamental democratic rights ahead of profit."

China is upset after Rockets general manager Daryl Morey tweeted his support last week for Hong Kong's pro-democracy protesters, kicking off a broadcast ban on games and the cancellation of sponsorship deals.
