Connecticut's governor said Monday that the state will hand over $1,000 to 10,000 long-term unemployed residents who find full-time work before the end of 2021. Governor Ned Lamont said that anyone who filed an unemployment claim during the last week of May are eligible for the $1,000 as long as they find a job lasting eight weeks or more before the end of the year. The governor didn't say if the grand would be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis. Critics say Connecticut's leader is merely encouraging residents to give up one government benefit for another.
