The Indianapolis 500 is set to be the largest sporting event in the world since the start of the pandemic, with 135,000 spectators permitted to attend "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing" next month. The 2021 running of the race will roughly have 40 percent of IMS's full 400,000-person capacity, and would make this year's Indy 500 the largest sporting event by audience size since the pandemic began. Mark Miles, president and CEO of Penske Entertainment, said he expects around 60 percent of attendees at this year's 500 will be fully vaccinated, and the track will continue to function as a vaccination site throughout the month of May. Guests will be required to wear face coverings, and temperatures will be checked before entry. A vast majority of the people working in the IndyCar paddock have already been vaccinated. Get ready for the Indy 500 coming Memorial Day weekend. It will be awesome to see racing fans back in the stands!
