Luigi Mangione, the man accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson outside of a New York hotel last week, was seen screaming at the press as he was escorted inside a Pennsylvania courtroom on Tuesday (December 10) for an extradition hearing.

As officers took Mangione out of the police car and started walking him into the building, he could be heard yelling something about "an insult to the intelligence of the American people."

Mangione has been charged with second-degree murder, forgery, and three gun-related charges in New York, along with five charges in Pennsylvania, including carrying a gun without a license and falsely identifying himself.

During the hearing, Mangione said he intended to fight his extradition to New York. He was denied bail and will be locked up at Huntingdon State Correctional Institution in Pennsylvania.

Mangione was arrested on Monday (December 9) in Altoona, Pennsylvania, after being recognized by a McDonald's employee. He was found with a 3D-printed gun and silencer, as well as a handwritten manifesto criticizing healthcare companies for prioritizing profits over care. The manifesto, which mentioned UnitedHealthcare by name, described the killing as a "symbolic takedown" of corporate corruption. Mangione's writings expressed frustration with the U.S. healthcare system, noting its high costs and low life expectancy ranking.

Mangione's family expressed shock and devastation over his arrest, offering prayers to Thompson's family. Mangione, an Ivy League graduate, had a background in technology and video games.

The New York Police Department credited the release of photos for Mangione's capture, which helped identify him at the McDonald's.
