Trump's audio-animatronic android at Walt Disney World's Hall of Presidents can't catch a break.
Earlier this month, the Hall of Presidents finished its remodel, which included Trump's animatronic doppelganger. People online immediately panned the look of our latest robot president, with some critics complaining the presidential android looked more like Jon Voight than the 45th President.
Now it seems that the Trump-bot has begun attracting protesters to the Happiest Place on Earth.
According to video shot by Ian R. and posted to YouTube, a guest was recently escorted out of the attraction after he began yelling 'Lock him up!' at a robot who is unaware of anything except for its code.
As soon as the Trump-bot begins speaking, the guest can be heard repeatedly shouting "Lock him up!" as the automaton went through its pre-programmed speech. Audience members tried shushing the protester, while others tried reminding the protester than the robot wasn't really Trump himself on stage.
The man who purportedly shouted at the unaware, unthinking robot, revealed himself on Twitter later, posting video of his protest and claiming responsibility for the outburst.
The protester has been identified as Jay Malsky, a former executive assistant at NBC, and current comedian and actor living in New York. In an interview with ThemeParkUniversity.com, Malsky says he wanted to protest to show the kids and parents watching the Trump-bot speak what a protest looks like.
Donald Trump is a madman with fascist tendencies who has persuaded millions of middle-class Americans to vote against their own interests. I figured a bunch of them would be at this ride and wanted to show their kids what a protest looks like before Trump murders democracy. If people are upset that I disrupted their family vacation, I hope they’ll think about the thousands of children being taken away from their parents because of Trump’s racist immigration policies, or the parents of the hundreds of trans people murdered each year by transphobic and homophobic people, or the negative impacts of the tax bill on poor and middle-income Americans. I encourage anyone outraged that I interrupted a ride at Disney to check their privilege.
Some people in the audience didn't get that message and can be heard trying to shush Malsky, while other began yelling at him to shut up. Malsky was able to protest for around a minute before he was escorted out by Disney security.
