A tanker truck crashed in South Kohala, on the Big Island yesterday afternoon, killing the driver and spilling thousands of gallons of fuel. It happened shortly after 2 p.m. when the tanker driver ran off Kawaihae Road and overturned between the 63 and 64-mile markers. It spilled nearly half of the 8,400 gallons of diesel fuel that it was carrying.  The driver was pinned inside the vehicle and died at the scene.
