The state of Hawaii will no longer defend the old law that defined marriage as only between a man and a woman. Hawaii Attorney General David Louie issued a statement, saying that since Hawaii changed the law last year to ensure marriage equality for same-sex couples, there are no longer grounds to defend the previous law. He says the state will stop defending the case of Jackson versus Abercrombie in federal court because of the new marriage law that allows same-sex couples to wed.
