State BOE Asks for $65 Million More to Run Schools

The State Board of Education voted to ask for $40 million more in state funding to operate public schools.  It needs another $25 million in capital costs to install air conditioning in more schools.  The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports that the money would be in addition to a $1.37 billion school appropriation by state lawmakers earlier this year as part of Hawaii's two-year budget.
