State Applies for Federal Aid to Deal with Spill

Hawaii has formally applied for federal government assistance in responding to the 1,400 ton spill of molasses into Honolulu Harbor.  U.S. Senator Brian Schatz says the money will reimburse the state for its expenses in cleaning up the spill, which was caused by a corroded pipe by owned by Matson Navigation Company.  And, the state is getting more help. Sunday, two spill experts with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will arrive in Honolulu to help the state deal with the disaster.
