Ninole Bay and Punaluu Beach on the south shore of the Big Island are closed after a 29-year-old man was reportedly bitten by a tiger shark in the shallows Wednesday morning. The Captain Cook resident was bodyboarding when the attack happened at about 8 a.m. He was transported to Kau Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The beach is expected to remain closed until noon Friday.
