State Senator Sam Slom Tuesday took issue with one of Governor Neil Abercrombie's veto selections - SB 2682 CD1 - relating to financial disclosure statements. The bill would make public the financial disclosure statements of members of state boards, commissions, and agencies, including the public utilities commission, the board of land and natural resources, the board of Hawaii housing finance and development, the Hawaii homes commission, state ethics commision, board of agriculture, public housing authority and others.  Slom asks why the public and media shouldn't know if commission or board members or their family have a financial interest or association that may affect the member's decision making?  He said the ill passed unanimously in the House and Senate, with not even one legislator having reservations.
