Officials on the Big Island have closed Ahalanui Park in the lower Puna area after a man reported contracting a flesh-eating bacteria from the water. He was hospitalized for his infection after swimming in the park's hot pond three weeks ago with an open wound. There are signs warning against it. Health officials are testing the water to see if they can confirm its the source of the flesh-eating bacteria.
