Hawaii News Now reports the two Oahu Community Correctional Center guards did not show up in court in Honolulu yesterday, and were reprimanded by Circuit Judge Patrick Border. Kevin Ignacio and Ismael Castro are accused of punching and kicking inmate Jeffrey Diaz in October 2012. Diaz is in prison on an assault conviction. Both guards have pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor third-degree assault charges.Deputy Attorney General Albert Cook said in a court filing this month that the two assaults occurred within minutes of one another. The attorney general's office says several guards testified they saw Ignacio hitting Diaz, while prison cameras caught Castro kicking the inmate.
