Scientists at Hawaii Pacific University will be doing a necropsy on the carcass of a young dolphin to determine what caused its death. The male spinner dolphin's carcass was found Monday morning by a Big Island tour operator tangled in a net. The carcass was transported from the Big Island to Oahu for the necropsy. David Schofield, Coordinator for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Marine Mammal Response Network, estimates the dolphin was about two to three years old, and weighed about 70 pounds.
