The state's local shark expert, Randy Honebrink from the Department of Land and Natural Resources, is pleading guilty to child pornography charges. His attorney has submitted a plea deal on Honebrink's behalf to U.S. District Judge Leslie Kobayashi. She is expected to announce on Thursday if she approves the plea deal. Hawaii News Now reported that Honebrink was accused by federal prosecutors of possessing images of young children having sex. He faces up to 20 years in jail if convicted by a jury, but will likely serve much less time under the plea deal.
