Kona police now say a man who confessed he was involved in a murder led them to human remains on Monday. Detectives recovered the remains at about 5:30 p.m. in a vacant lot between Queen Kaahumanu Highway and Puako Beach Drive. The man who led police to the crime site was already in custody on previous charges. He told police he was coerced into helping another man lure the victim and then witnessed that man shoot the victim and he assisted in disposing the body. An autopsy will determine the cause of death and the identity of the victim. But police are investigating whether the victim is 37-year-old musician Lopaka Ryder -- who hasn't been heard from since last Thanksgiving. Family members reported him missing in January.
