Hawaii will get a $1.8 million early childhood education grant from the federal government. U.S. Representative Colleen Hanabusa announced the grant yesterday. It will come from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for Head Start programs. Head Start is a federal school readiness program for children from low-income families. The Honolulu Community Action Program, which has more than 85 Head Start locations on Oahu, will use the money for its programs.
