The Hawaiian Homes Commission has two new members... Governor Neil Abercrombie announced yesterday that Wallace Ishibashi Jr. will fill the East Hawaii seat and Patricia Sheehan will fill the Kauai seat. Abercrombie notes they both have strong ties to their communities. Ishibashi is currently University of Hawaii-Hilo's cultural monitor for the Office of Mauna Kea Management. Sheehan previously served on the commission from 1993 to 1997. She and her children operate Hanalei Land Company, which manages their family's 74-acre property. The nine-member commission oversees the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands. At least four members must have at least one-fourth Hawaiian blood.
