Governor Neil Abercrombie is inviting Hawaii residents to ring a bell Friday at 6:01 p.m. That was the exact time on this day back in 1968 that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated. Abercrombie is asking that all capable government buildings, places of worship and facilities across the state join in this gesture. The People's Walk through downtown Honolulu was scheduled at 3:30 p.m. and ends at the Hawaii State Capitol Rotunda when the Hawaii Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Coalition and the Hawaii Needs a Raise coalition will host a rally from 4 to 6:30 p.m. There will be a moment of silence as well in conjunction with the bell ringing.
