Mayor Kirk Caldwell scheduled a news conference today at Kipapa Neighborhood Park to raise awareness of the cost to taxpayers and park users resulting from tree vandalism. City crews will then remove a tree in the park valued at $19,000 because it was killed by vandalism. "In addition to destroying a beautiful tree that took decades to grow and was enjoyed by many park users, the vandalism diverts taxpayer money that would otherwise go towards core services," said Mayor Caldwell.
