The city is still hoping to collect 38,000 lei to decorate the graves of veterans at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl. Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell said "every year thousands of volunteers from across Oahu sew lei to honor the fallen with an incredible display of aloha." Lei must be made of fresh flowers or ti leaves and must measure 20" to 24" long before tying - please leave them untied. They can be dropped off at designated community parks and fire stations on Oahu and the Parks Permit Office in Honolulu, during specific periods of time today and tomorrow.
