A Big Island judge Friday granted a request for a temporary restraining order and Hawaii County farmers won't have to sign up for the county's new GMO registration program. A farmer had filed suit, saying if he had to give out information on his papaya farming, it could jeopardize his crops. The new law bans genetically modified crops, except papayas. Farmers are worried vandals will damage or destroy their crops if they are required to provide specific information.
